Journey to the West, a Re-telling of The Monkey King, by Mary Zimmerman
I used both Chinese art and acrobatics as the inspiration for these costumes. I combined historical looks with Chinese opera costumes, iconography, and Chinese martial arts uniforms to create an active and highly theatrical conceptual design.
