The director wanted the costumes the prisoners use for the play within a play to come from the dungeon itself. We created character looks from our research on inquisition and medieval torture devices. This included the horse and donkey cage masks (based on medieval torture helmets in the shape of animal heads) for Don Quixote and Sancho Panza’s steeds.
